I went to the Tate Modern to get inspiration about ceramics. I saw flying objects made by Hyundai with Anicka Yi. It was literally interesting to me. Because jellyfish live in the ocean. It will be fun to salt put into the sea animal-like jellyfish who live in the sea.
Also, the first time I want to focus on dividing spices’ sections. Because we don’t have just one or two spices like salt and pepper. When we eat something, we use a lot of spices like herbs, paprika powder, curry powder, chilli;,, However, most spice cellars have just one or two sections for salt and pepper. So, I want to make a multi-spice cellar to put various spices.

However, as you can see, I encountered some problems. First, making jellyfish legs using ceramic is difficult. Because the body of the jellyfish will be heavy. I tried to use flexible metal sticks, but it was impossible. Because I could not use metal because of the oven fire ceramic. So, I try to change the design.

I studied spices according to national features. Firstly, the French have famous herbs. Therefore, the French cellars are focused on various herbs and salt&pepper. And India is renowned for the spice in the world. So, I designed more sections for India’s curet than others.

South Korea is renowned for spicy sources and powder. Therefore, Korea’s cellar is focused on pastes sources.
So, I will design the cruets with national spices’ features.

I sketched the initial idea. First, however, I have to solve weight problems. So, I thought of making jellyfish’s legs thicker, making a lot of legs or making support parts.
