After the tutoiral, I got the jellyfish idea more. First, I could solve the weight problems by turn around the jellyfish. I think it was very fastnated to me. Also, the jellyfish move together, which called “jellyfish bloom”. This idea give inspiration to me a lot.
I researched jellyfish’s bloom. So, I decided to make different size of ceramics for various spices. Bloom is extremely beautiful. It is kind of like flower or fruits. Their Irregular shape is really useful for my design and inspiration.
Also, in the tutorial, I got recommended designers like a ceramic designer “Kate Malone”. Her ceramics were very colourful and fancy. However, It was never too much. She got inspired by sea animals and many corals or fruits.. So after I studied her works, It was helpful for choosing colours.
This is my work. It take two-days maybe. Making outside shape like jellyfish was really interesting and challenging to me, but really fun.
I used two different methods.
First method is coiling. This method have advantage like It can be made meticulously and made solid from the ground up, so it does not crack or collapse easily. However, using coiling takes long time.
Second method is wedging. This method is simple and easy and it take short time for making objects. However, Instead of being easily accessible, the body may have a hole in it, or the clay may easily gather into one part.
In my case, I used coiling method until making one objects. However, I changed to wedging method for managing my time.
Maybe I will glaze blue or reddish colours..
